SUMMARY:Annual Queen Victoria Hospital Service
DESCRIPTION:In September 1896\, 11 of Melbourne’s female physicians including Drs. Clara and Constance Stone (the founder of the Victorian Medical Women’s Society) founded the Queen Victoria Hospital\, the first hospital in Victoria operated for women by women. This annual service commemorates the long association the Welsh Church has had with the Queen Victoria Hospital\, initiated by the use of their hall by Dr. Constance Stone as the first outpatient clinic run by women doctors for women at the turn of the century (1900)\, which later developed into the Queen Victoria Hospital. \nThe service will be followed by a light lunch.

SUMMARY:7th Vera Scantlebury Brown Memorial Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Presented by Professor Harriet Hiscock\nPrincipal Fellow\, Department of Paediatrics\, The University of Melbourne\nGroup Leader\, Health Services\, Centre for Community Child Health\, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute Director\, Health Services Research Unit\, The Royal Children’s Hospital \nOne in seven Australian children have a mental health problem but fewer than half get help. More children are coming to Victorian Emergency Departments in mental health crisis and families wait up to 6 months to see a community clinician for support. A two-sector public vs private health system is further disadvantaging families who cannot afford out-of-pocket costs for mental health care. Why is this happening and what can we do about it? \nDrawing upon her research into the Australian mental healthcare system and family and clinician voices\, Professor Harriet Hiscock\, like Dr Vera Scantlebury Brown\, is using data to drive improvements in care for young children. Innovative models are needed if we are to ensure mental health care that is accessible and affordable to Australian children and their families. \nRSVP: gr-mc@unimelb.edu.au

We are very excited to be joined by doctors and authors Dr Leah Kaminsky and Dr Melanie Cheng. \nEach author will speak for about an hour about their books\, how and why they’ve decided to become an author\, how this links in with their career\, how they organise their work-life balance\, other out-of-work interests/passions and so forth. Be inspired and empowered by their stories! \nYou will also have the opportunity to buy their books on the day\, or bring your own copies to have them signed! \n[/tatsu_text][/tatsu_column][/tatsu_row][/tatsu_section][tatsu_section bg_color= “” bg_image= “” bg_repeat= “no-repeat” bg_attachment= ‘{“d”:”scroll”}’ bg_position= ‘{“d”:”top left”}’ bg_size= ‘{“d”:”cover”}’ bg_animation= “none” padding= ‘{“d”:”14px 0px 0px 0px”}’ margin= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ border= “0px 0px 0px 0px” border_color= “” bg_video= “0” bg_video_mp4_src= “” bg_video_ogg_src= “” bg_video_webm_src= “” bg_overlay= “0” overlay_color= “” full_screen= “0” enable_custom_height= “” custom_height= ‘{“d”:””}’ vertical_align= “center” top_divider= “none” top_divider_zindex= “9999” bottom_divider_zindex= “9999” bottom_divider= “none” top_divider_height= ‘{“d”:”100″}’ top_divider_position= “above” bottom_divider_height= ‘{“d”:”100″}’ bottom_divider_position= “below” top_divider_color= “#ffffff” bottom_divider_color= “#ffffff” invert_top_divider= “0” invert_bottom_divider= “0” flip_top_divider= “0” flip_bottom_divider= “0” section_id= “” section_class= “” section_title= “” offset_section= “” offset_value= “0px” full_screen_header_scheme= “background–dark” z_index= “0” overflow= “” hide_in= “” key= “rJZeHRVa-H”][tatsu_row full_width= “0” bg_color= “” border= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ border_color= “” no_margin_bottom= “0” equal_height_columns= “0” gutter= “medium” column_spacing= “px” fullscreen_cols= “0” swap_cols= “0” padding= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ margin= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px”}’ row_id= “” row_class= “” hide_in= “” box_shadow= “0px 0px 0px 0px rgba(0\,0\,0\,0)” border_radius= “0px” layout= “1/2+1/2” key= “r1xlSANpWH”][tatsu_column bg_color= “” bg_image= “” bg_repeat= “no-repeat” bg_attachment= “scroll” bg_position= ‘{“d”:”top left”}’ bg_size= ‘{“d”:”cover”}’ padding= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ custom_margin= “0” margin= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 50px 0px”}’ border= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ border_color= “” border_radius= “0px” enable_box_shadow= “0” box_shadow_custom= “0px 0px 0px 0px rgba(0\,0\,0\,0)” bg_video= “0” bg_video_mp4_src= “” bg_video_ogg_src= “” bg_video_webm_src= “” bg_overlay= “0” overlay_color= “” animate_overlay= “none” link_overlay= “” vertical_align= “none” column_offset= “0” sticky= “0” offset= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px”}’ z_index= “0” top_divider= “none” bottom_divider= “none” top_divider_height= ‘{“d”:”100″\,”m”:”0″}’ bottom_divider_height= ‘{“d”:”100″\,”m”:”0″}’ top_divider_color= “#ffffff” bottom_divider_color= “#ffffff” flip_top_divider= “0” flip_bottom_divider= “0” left_divider= “none” left_divider_width= ‘{“d”:”50″\,”m”:”0″}’ left_divider_color= “#ffffff” invert_left_divider= “0” right_divider= “none” right_divider_width= ‘{“d”:”50″\,”m”:”0″}’ right_divider_color= “#ffffff” invert_right_divider= “0” column_parallax= “0” top_divider_zindex= “9999” bottom_divider_zindex= “9999” right_divider_zindex= “9999” left_divider_zindex= “9999” column_width= ‘{“d”:50\,”l”:50\,”t”:50\,”m”:100}’ overflow= “” column_mobile_spacing= “0” animate= “0” animation_type= “fadeIn” animation_delay= “0” image_hover_effect= “none” column_hover_effect= “none” hover_box_shadow= “0px 0px 0px 0px rgba(0\,0\,0\,0)” col_id= “” column_class= “” hide_in= “” layout= “1/2” key= “SkCrANTbH”][tatsu_text bg_color= “” max_width= ‘{“d”:”100″}’ wrap_alignment= “center” text_alignment= ‘{“d”:”left”}’ animate= “” animation_type= “fadeIn” animation_delay= “0” margin= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 30px 0px”}’ box_shadow= “0px 0px 0px 0px rgba(0\,0\,0\,0)” padding= ‘{“d”:”0px 0px 0px 0px”}’ border_radius= “0px” key= “SkAIAVpWH”] \nDr Leah Kaminsky \nDr Leah Kaminsky is not only a well-respected GP of 17 years\, but an award winning author.
