She has undergone extensive overseas training and now is only one of very few plastic surgeons in Victoria with extra training and qualifications to deal with a full range of conditions pertaining to the hand and wrist. \nWhen she isn’t working at The Bays or Eastern Health\, Dr Janakiramanan is a mother of 3 and writes regularly for The Women’s Agenda\, an online website that encourages female leadership and empowerment amongst professional women. She has been running a series on social media profiling women and non-binary medical professionals titled #InspiringDoctors. \nDr Janakiramanan has recently celebrated the success of her grassroots campaign with Dr Sarah Townsend to get critically ill children and families off Nauru. Over the past 30 years the journalist\, author and broadcaster has anchored programs for ABC TV\, Network Ten\, Channel 9\, Sky News and Radio 2UE\, and written hundreds of columns for Fairfax and News Corp. She now amplifies the voices of others through the social enterprise\, Outspoken Women. \nIn 2018\, Tracey was awarded an Order of Australia for her work as the national co-founder of Women in Media\, and as an ambassador for charitable and social welfare groups. Since October last year\, Tracey has been spearheading the #MeToo movement in Australia\, producing award-winning investigative stories with Fairfax and the ABC. \nIn March 2018 she created NOW Australia\, a not-for-profit organisation aimed at helping anyone who has been sexually harassed in the workplace. Her tireless advocacy led to the creation of the world’s first national inquiry into sexual harassment in the workplace\, by the AHRC. \nGRAND ROUND PANELLISTS \nDr Dara Kass \nAssistant Professor Dara Kass MD works at Columbia University in New York and is the founder of FemInEM – ‘an open access resource where we discuss\, discover\, and affect the journey of women working in emergency medicine.’ \nPrior to working at Columbia University Dara was the director Undergraduate Medical Education at NYU and an Assistant Program Director at Staten Island University Hospital. She completed her residency training at SUNY Downstate/ Kings County Hospital and is currently the She is active in both the Academy of Women in Academic Emergency Medicine (SAEM) and the American Association of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). \nAlongside the growth of FemInEM she has developed a niche in the advancement of women in emergency medicine. She is invited regularly to speak on topics such as professional development of women\, unconscious bias and achieving gender equity in Emergency Medicine. \nDr Kirsten Connan \nDr Kirsten Connan is a FRANZCOG Obstetrician & Gynaecologist with a passion for improving women’s health through empowerment\, support and education. Kirsten has special interests in normal and high risk obstetrics\, pelvic pain\, endometriosis\, complex laparoscopic surgery and specialist ultrasound. Kirsten also completed her Masters of Clinical Education at University of Melbourne researching gender equity in leadership in obstetrics and gynaecology in Australia and New Zealand. \nThe most influential years of her training and specialist practice were proudly undertaken at Australia’s largest maternity hospital\, Melbourne’s Royal Women’s Hospital\, with specialist training in high-risk obstetrics\, advanced laparoscopic surgery and obstetric ultrasound. \nKirsten’s clinical experience spans capital cities\, regional centres\, developing countries and both public and private medicine in Australia. \nDr Simon Judkins \nDr Simon Judkins is an Emergency Physician and Deputy Director ED at Austin Health. Simon has been a doctor for over twenty years\, and has worked as an Emergency Physician for fifteen of those. He has worked in Emergency Departments across Melbourne and regional Victoria\, President of the Australasian College for Emergency Medicine and the Australian Medical Association\, and is a regular contributor to public discussions on issues relating to public hospitals and public health. \nDr Neela Janakiramanan \nDr Neela Janakiramanan is a Plastic & Reconstructive Surgeon with a particular sub-specialty interest and expertise in hand and wrist surgery. Outside of treating patients\, Neela is involved in several research projects both locally and internationally\, and enjoys spending time with her husband and three young sons. She is a fierce advocate for both patients and the health profession\, and wants to see the system become better for everyone. Neela describes herself as an accidental activist. \nNeela has been working on a grassroots campaign calling to urgently evacuate critically ill children and families from Nauru. Within weeks they have collected the signatures of more than 6000 doctors in Australia\, including more than 250 organisations. Neela is passionate about gender equity within medicine and is the curator of “Inspiring Doctors” which profiles women medical doctors. \nDr Skye Kinder \nSkye Kinder is a junior doctor passionate about regional and rural health\, with special interests in policy\, workforce planning\, and service and process enhancement. Skye is currently appointed to the Board of the Rural Doctors Association of Victoria\, and to the Board of the Postgraduate Medical Council of Victoria. She was named the 2014 Young Citizen of the Year for Bendigo\, in recognition of her commitment to the Greater Bendigo community. Skye was later named the 2017 Junior Doctor of the Year for Victoria\, and is the 2019 Young Australian of the Year for Victoria. \nProf David Story \nProfessor David Story is an anaesthetist and the Foundation Chair of Anaesthesia at the University of Melbourne and Head of the Anaesthesia\, Perioperative and Pain Medicine Unit. He is a senior investigator with the Clinical Trials Network of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists (ANZCA)\, sits on the ANZCA Research Committee and is Deputy Chair of the ANZCA Safety and Quality Committee. David was the acting Executive Director of the Melbourne Academic Centre for Health (MACH) end 2018-early 2019. \nGRAND ROUND HOST/COORDINATOR \nDr Rebecca Szabo \nDr Rebecca Szabo is an obstetrician/gynaecologist and medical educator at the Women’s and University of Melbourne. Rebecca coordinates Women’s Health Education and Simulation at The Women’s. Rebecca graduated from Monash University Medical School in 1999 and has always been passionate about education and public health encouraged after completing her medical student elective in Apia\, Samoa. \nRebecca completed her specialist training as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist (FRANZCOG) mostly based at the Women’s\, as well as working in Albury/Wodonga (2005) and RPA Hospital\, Sydney AustraliaRebecca has also lived and worked in England and Thailand. She was the visiting gyn oncology fellow at Chiang Mai University Hospital\, Chiang Mai\, Thailand in 2007. She completed her Masters of Clinical Education focused on simulation based education at University of Melbourne. Rebecca is a senior clinical lecturer with Melbourne University Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology as well as a board director and instructor with ALSO Australia (Advanced Life Support in Obstetrics). \n

SUMMARY:Webinar: Addressing the sensitive topics of fertility and preconception health with your male and female patients
DESCRIPTION:This GP education webinar is presented by Andrology Australia and Your Fertility. It will address GPs’ expressed needs for education on preconception health care for female and male patients\, with up-to-date evidence-based presentations on factors affecting male and female fertility\, practical strategies for implementation into practice\, and opportunities to participate in discussions with the panel\, including expert presenters and consumers. The webinar will be facilitated by acclaimed ABC national medical reporter Ms Sophie Scott. It is pending RACGP accreditation as a Cat 2 activity for 3 CPD points.\n\nResearch\, including a recent survey conducted by Andrology Australia on male fertility\, shows that many GPs do not feel confident broaching the subject of fertility in general consultations if not asked explicitly by the patient\, with many perceived barriers to providing preconception care to all patients (female and male) of reproductive age. Shannon also lectures in perinatal and women’s health at the University of Sydney. Shannon has a Bachelor of Science degree with first class honours for research on mitochondria in testicular tissue. Shannon studied medicine at the University of Sydney and completed her Masters of Medicine in Reproductive Health and Human Genetics. She trained in Obstetrics and Gynaecology\, obtaining her FRANZCOG\, and undertook further subspecialty training to gain a Certificate in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. \n\nShannon’s talk is titled Update on factors affecting female fertility \n\n\n\n\n\n\nDr Magdalena Simonis\, MBBS\, FRACGP\, DRANZCOG \nDr Magdalena Simonis is a GP\, a fellow of the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) and an honorary research fellow with the Department of General Practice\, University of Melbourne\, with expertise in implementation of evidence-based practices in health delivery. She is on the board of Women’s Health Victoria\, is President of the Victorian Medical Women’s Society and the Strategy and Policy Committee for Breast Cancer Network Australia. Her articles are regularly published in Medical Republic and she has been an RACGP representative to senate enquiries. Magdalena believes fertility issues encompass women’s health\, general health and relationship discussions\, hence are a central aspect of the care GPs deliver to the patients over their life cycle. \nMagda’s talk is titled Addressing preconception health with our male and female patients

SUMMARY:Bystander Action to Prevent Violence Against Women
DESCRIPTION:Providing the tools to take bystander action to prevent violence against women.\nThis three-hour active bystander training supports participants to speak up when confronted with everyday sexism and sexual harassment\, as well as a range of behaviours and attitudes that justify\, excuse\, blame\, trivialise or minimise violence against women.  \nThis training takes participants through the causes\, prevalence and impact of family violence\, sexual harassment and other forms of violence against women. Participants are provided with bystander tools to build the skills and confidence to speak out against violence-supportive attitudes and behaviours. \nTraining Outcomes: \n\nIncreases participants’ understanding and confidence to discuss domestic violence and sexual harassment with your colleagues\, friends and family.\n\nBuilds participants’ skill to challenge attitudes and behaviours that support violence against women.\n\nProvides you with practical tools to be an active bystander.\n\n\nWHV’s active bystander training focuses on the most pervasive forms of violence against women\, but the active bystander tools can be used to challenge any form of discrimination\, harassment\, or bullying. The tools are designed to reinforces healthy\, respectful behaviours and focuses on what people in the workplace and communities can do to make a difference. \nWorkshop facilitators: \nAlan Thomson is a skilled and experienced family violence prevention worker\, with over 10 years’ experience facilitating accredited training to stop violence against women. Alan holds a Graduate Certificate in Social Science at Swinburne university\, Responding to Male Violence against Women. Alan has worked on numerous primary prevention programs and projects for communities and organisations throughout Victoria\, including not-for-profits\, local and State Government.  \nBianca Walsh is the health promotion officer and training coordinator at Women’s Health Victoria.
