The VMWS advocates on an ongoing basis for equitable pay and leadership representation in all medical organisations.
In 2018, the VMWS were informed that part-time GP registrars were not reimbursed fully for educational release, where as full-time GP registrars were. This unequal pay was unfair and discriminatory. We contacted the multiple medical bodies involved in GP registrar payment, including the RACGP.
Earlier this year we discovered that this issue has been rectified at least at a regional level in Victoria – currently GP registrars, part-time and full-time, get paid equally for their educational release. We congratulate the organisations involved in making these changes.
