As Program Director of International Health Awareness Network (an international NGO) she has been actively working with other board members to improve the lives of women and children in developing countries. She has served as a consultant to the United Nations. Her book Women’s Global Health and Human Rights was published by Jones and Bartlett in April 2009 and has been well received. Murthy serves as Chair of Women’s Rights Committee of the APHA and Section Councilor in the International Health Section of the APHA. Her research interests include women’s health with an emphasis on violence against women and HIV/AIDS. Murthy has recently been appointed to the board of directors of the Eleanor Roosevelt Center at Val – Kill. In July 2010 Murthy has been appointed Co- Chair of the Health Task fore of the CSW NGO Committee of NY at the United Nations.
