Medical Panels is providing an exciting opportunity to develop new skills and enhance capabilities in a collaborative and intellectually challenging environment, while making an active contribution to the community.
This is an opportunity for paid, flexible part time work that can suit women doctors. The work involves doctors providing an objective assessment of individuals’ functional impairment, often for example, of a workplace injury, based on strict criteria set out in a book called the AMA Impairment Guide.
Currently, there are vacancies in specific sub-specialties, such as orthopaedics, plastics, and neurosurgery, as well as many others. There is plenty of support in the role as you are part of a team and discipline-specific training is required, conducted in peer groups, as is some legal training.
For our mid-career and mature members, there are also vacancies for the role of Presiding Member. Presiding Members are experienced GPs, rheumatologists, occupational physicians who are paid more than panelists and have additional responsibilities including combining a number of specialist impairment assessments into a worker’s single impairment score. All presiding members will be offered mentoring.
For those interested in applying, applications close on January 22nd 2023, and more information can be found on the Medical Panels website here.
