In 1896 women doctors struggled against prejudice to find employment in Melbourne hospitals.
In an important and thoughtful new book – Dinner with the Devil – Helen Macrae uncovers the compelling and sometimes funny stories of the amazing women who founded the hospital and later staffed Queen Vic as surgeons, nurses, radiographers, volunteers etc.
