The 2025 Constance Stone Oration was presented by Dr Jasmina Kevric, Breast and General Surgeon and long-standing supporter of the Victorian Medical Women’s Society. Dr Kevric was awarded the Constance Stone Oration in recognition of her leadership, advocacy, and commitment to advancing women in medicine.
In her oration, Dr Kevric shared her personal journey as a woman in surgery, including her experiences growing up in Bosnia. She reflected on the impact of surgical training on fertility, the realities of balancing a demanding surgical career with family life, and insights from her landmark research into medical parenthood.
Drawing on research involving over 1,000 medical parents across Australia and New Zealand, Dr Kevric highlighted the structural pressures within medicine that shape reproductive decisions and outcomes. Her address called for greater understanding, flexibility, and system-level change, while underscoring the importance of women supporting and uplifting one another.
Recordings of the 2025 Constance Stone Oration, along with orations from previous years, are available exclusively to VMWS members via the members-only portal.
