2021 has started off on a positive note here at VMWS. Our committee this year has several new faces and we are so excited to bring that enthusiasm to the rest of the society. Get to know us better by reading about us on our website.
At our recent committee meeting, we discussed ways in which we can connect better to you – our newsletter subscribers and members. We are embracing social media and technology to ensure that even whilst we continue to navigate the choppy waters of COVID-19, we are still able to provide you with our support. We look forward to interacting with you more online.
Certainly, online events are becoming the new normal, and I think it’s definitely bridging a gap. We are proud to support AFMW with their Open Forums – I urge you to join in these weekly Zoom events (it’s wonderful to meet with medical women from different states!). What’s also really exciting is the upcoming 65th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women. Usually held in New York City, a bit of a trek for us, this year on 20th March, the conference will be held online. AFMW is also hosting a parallel event in conjunction with CSW65. You can learn more about it here.
Last, but certainly not least, International Women’s Day is on 8 March. The definition of Woman has evolved over the years, but I believe these timeless words by Maya Angelou still resonate.
Warmest regards,
Madhura
